The Action Research for Developing a Program of Expressive Arts Therapy for Reducing Childcare Stress, Improving Childcare Attitude of Mothers who are raising Preschool Children
Kim Jung-Sun

Abstract
This is a action research for developing programs that can reduce the childcare stress of mothers who raise preschool children, improve their childcare attitude and create a childcare community that continues to be supportive. The research was conducted with subjects of 9 mothers, who all raised preschool children, who gathered up from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm every Wednesday for eight weeks¡¯ duration from June to August of 2019. The program was performed using an action research method, by which the theme was drawn from the preliminary survey. Participants were examined in individual, interpersonal, and communal aspects, and constant communication and discussion were made between the researcher and the participants resulting in many changes of the procedures. Through this psychotherapy program by means of art, in an individual aspect, the participants claimed to have released childcare stress and restored self-esteem. In an interpersonal aspect, the participants experienced the positive change in their childcare attitude by analyzing the problems with their own mothers, children, and husbands, and by practicing the solution in real life. In a communal aspect, the participants agreed on the need for building a childcare community in which they could continue to seek help and support. This research makes practical suggestions for creating programs that can support mothers of preschool children.
